Time (Part 4)

I don't have the heart to finish any more "Ninth Symph" chapters, not with NaNo so close.

I still have some outlining to finish, but, for the most part, I have good ideas floating around. I'm going to spend today, my final day of freedom, doing some art, having a party with some close friends, and fleshing out some more plot details. I will be starting my NaNo at 12:00 am Nov.1. At least, that's the plan.

I still don't even have a bloody title yet. It's hard, because I don't know how detailed this story is going to be. It all depends on soooo much! I should just pick a working title and fly by the seat of my pants. Weee!

Ok. I must stop for now. My brain is turning to mush.

Time (Part 3)

I'm sitting at the local hot spot for wireless action: the Acoustic Cafe. Nursing my 20 oz. glass of Pepsi with cherry flavoring (because Cherry Pepsi alone is not good enough for me), I watch the world of Fastenal and other semi trucks and the local hum-drum of personal motorized vehicles pass by the window on this delightfully dreary afternoon. No bird plays in the skies, and the air threatens to turn to freezing if you turn your back on it for one second. Overall, it's not a pleasant day, yet I feel in my element. The only way this could be any better was if WILSON (my laptop), my soda and I found ourselves atop a sailboat drifting languidly in the water. But, this is not the case for me. At least not at this point in my life.

There are times for sailboats and languidness, but this is not one of them.

The purpose of my time here is simple: I need to make a decision and accomplish something. That something is hopefully a chapter of "Ninth Symph", but we'll see how it goes. First I need to read over the chapters that I have allowed to incubate for about a week. This is a very important step, though it can be a costly decision if the piece incubates for too long.

Imagine, if you will, what a chicken would look like if we could choose when it should hatch, and we let it incubate longer than it out to have. By the time the poor creature came out of its shell, it would probably be gigantic, have 2.5 heads, and at least 3 wings and 4 legs. It wouldn't be pretty, and it probably wouldn't even be considered a chicken anymore. It would be a Magnus Chikticor.

But, fortunately for us the egg was made as it was (by God or by evolution, whichever pleases you), and chicks hatch of their own accord. No Magnus Chikticori on the Thanksgiving dinner table this year. Damn...

In any event, this is why I let my stories incubate for a bit: freshen ideas with fresh eyes. Now, I think it's high time to refocus my energies into a different endeavor.

Till next time!

Time (Part 2)

Is it sad that I still haven't made a blasted decision? Probably...although I have thought more about plot. That and I completed seven character profiles for my upcoming NaNo novel. That's something exciting, considering I only had one character before. Heh...seven makes a much more interesting crowd. ^_^'

The new goal for Sunday, Nov. 1, is to complete three chapters of my online story as well as a basic outline for my novel with more specifics outlined for the first couple of chapters. It's gonna be a busy couple of days. Then again, I am planning on hitting up the local cafe tomorrow for most of the day. That means that I should be able to get at least one chapter plus some outlining done.

Woohoo for planning!

I want Chinese food. Good night.

Time (Part 1)

For the very same reason that I haven't posted a new chapter of my online story, I am sitting here, unknowing of what to do: I've lost all motivation, at least for writing. I know that in five days I must start working my way to a 50k word novel, and perhaps it is this very fact that causes me to freeze my pen. I have so little time (yet still time enough to work on three chapters), but I also have that same amount of time to really get a solid outline going.

So, when all the gooey stuff falls to the floor, I am left with one definitive decision.

Do I write my promised three chapters of "Ninth Symphony", or do I focus more on the plot for my NaNoWriMo project, writing whatever I can for my online story as time allows?

It's not an easy decision.

I played my wrist out today. I have a date with some therapy putty, a fitting chance to deliberate over my problem.

Product of the Mind

After incubating silly ideas all day, I finally have a general idea for this year's attempt at NaNoWriMo. And, surprise! It's going to be a sci-fi! :O:O:O:O!!!!!

I didn't see that one coming, actually. I was surprised when I made up my mind about it. Well...at least it's made up for now. But the alternative is a kind of silly idea. :)

I'm hungry. It's 11:27 PM, and I'm hungry. Silly brain...^-.-^ (<- horrible attempt at fox icon)

Fortunately I have some Cheez-Its, one of my favorite snacks, should I require them! :D

And, of course, I always have some chocolate nearby as well. It's good to get those creative juices flowing, at least in my mind. >_>

I think I'd best leave it at that before I start talking about the latest new things I've discovered in the Star Trek fandom.

Till next time!

A Little Something New

For those of you who used to read my old blog, I have decided on a change. I was tired of having to be labeled by my username on the other website, and this site allows me to separate a little more from my username and from the parent site. It feels like I have a little more control.

Components that should keep you coming back:
  • Every month I will be writing a little Thought Box near the bottom of the screen about that month.
  • Every month (to start) I will have a list on the right hand side of the screen about a particular topic. This month it's about snacks!
  • Every month I will have a poll at the bottom of the screen in regards to next month's list.
  • Who can resist the cute little fish?! They follow your mouse pointer in hopes of food. Click to give them some.

If I find a lot of response to these features, I'll probably change the frequency with which I update them. And, in time, I may be adding new features for the heck of it as well.

Not much else to add to this except that I'm excited for the change. And, there are 10 days till NaNoWriMo begins! This is going to be an interesting ride.

Enough for now. Till next time.
